Happy Anniversary Card

Wow, time just flies! Today is our 15th Anniversary.  it simultaneously feels like yesterday and a million years ago.  Time is such a strange thing. In honor of this milestone, I will be sharing the Anniversary Card I made for my husband.

Happy 15th Anniversary Card

I started this card in the same manner as my other Anniversary Card this week.  I created a template out of copy paper and stamped a damask image in the center of my heart and then inked with Distress Inks. Next, I used the other piece of the mask to cover the heart and create the background. I just adore this French Script background stamp. I did end up covering most of the damask image but that is just how these things go sometimes.

Then, I went to work on the birdcage, I used the Caged Bird die from Tim Holtz. I often use paper for these dies but this time I went with Grungepaper. For this card, I used Grungepaper because I knew I was going to apply a lot of product to it and I want to be sure that it would hold up. I added a coat of Distress Stain in Tarnished Brass. Once that was dry I used the Finnabair Patina Effect Paste. I love this paste!

I cut a piece of cardstock to fit behind my cage and stamped a feather and inked it with more Distress Inks. Once the background was dry I adhered it to the back of the cage. The, I added eyelets to the pre-existing holes in the bottom of the cage and colored in the center with a Peacock Feathers Distress Marker and then added some Rock Candy Distress Stickles on top.

15th Anniversary Card 2
Die cuts, crackle paint and lots of techniques on this card.

The wings, crown, and heart die cuts are from the Tim Holtz Grungeboard set called Plain Elements. The wings were given a coat of Brushed Silver Crackle Paint and left to dry. Once dry I gave them a wash of black using Distress Spray in Black Soot. The crown was lightly painted with Picket Fence and Antique Linen Distress Paint and then I applied a coat of Distress Stickles. I really didn’t love the way it looked so I applied a layer of Metallic Luster in Gold Rush over the Stickles once they dried and it gave this fantastic mottled gold look. I added four little gold dots using Multi-Purpose Metallic Paint. The heart was painted with Abandoned Coral Distress Paint and then given some age with Distress Inks and then finally a coat of Clear Embossing Powder.

Dies from Tim Holtz

I created the rosette using the Tim Holtz Paper Rosette Die and white cardstock. It was aged with Distress Inks and I stamped the number 15 from Papertrey Ink Banner Builder Set. Next, I punched the tiny flowers out of white cardstock using the McGill Paper Blossom Mini Petals punch and then inked them with Distress Inks. I added adhesive gems and Distress Stickles in Pumice Stone. I mounted the whole panel to a piece of brown cardstock. My last step was to add a few more eyelets to the corners and then everything was adhered to my card base.

Anniversary Card

Hi-ya!

Back today with a special Anniversary card. This is for one of my favorite couples that have an anniversary coming up. It is easy to remember because it is on Valentine’s Day and the day before my wedding anniversary. Of course, I usually don’t get a card out because Valentine’s preparations usually take over everything. This year, the hubby helped make Valentine’s Day box and I am not helping with the class party so I had a little extra time.

I started by creating a really simple mask in my Silhouette Studio Software. I cut out my mask using simple copy paper. This card started with the heart, I taped down my mask using Washi tape. I stamped the damask image with Wilted Violet Distress Ink. Next, I began to add the color inking with Shaded Lilac, Milled Lavender, and Wilted Violet Distress Inks. Once I had my heart as I wanted I removed my mask and then placed the heart from my mask over the inked heart so I could work on the background.

Anniversary Card 2
Lots of direct to paper inking and masking

I started the background by stamping the script stamp in Walnut Stain. Then I started inking the background with my Ink Blending Tool and Antique Linen, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Rusty Hinge, and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks. I added the splatter images using Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Then, it was back to the Silhouette software where I created the sparrow shapes and the banner. The banner was a shape I purchased on the online store. I used the Text to Path feature in the software to add the text to the banner. I first printed out the words and then cut the shape around, along with our little birds.

Little birds holding banner over Distress Ink heart

I inked the birds with Shaded Lilac and just a touch of Wilted Violet and then they got a coat of Distress Stickles in Rock Candy. The banner was antiqued using Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I added brads and mounted my panel to a piece of dark brown cardstock. The banner was glued in place and the little birds were added using pop-dots.

Anniversary Card

Happy Friday!

I cannot believe that we are almost at the end of August. I am looking forward to the Fall. It is my favorite season and I love Halloween.

Today’s card is an anniversary card for my in-laws and my entry in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog, Anything Goes.

I started with a piece of Solar White card stock and sponged on Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry inks from Stampin’ Up. For this ink application I used a quarter of a sponge. To get a smooth transition between the colors I begin with the lightest color and work to the darker color. Once I have the colors where I would like them I go back over each transition to smooth out the colors. I then stamped the wheat in Vintage Photo. Once that had dried I distressed the center panel using Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Inks. I used my Ink Blending tools.

I then sponged a white piece of card stock with Rich Razzleberry ink and then mounted the central image to the purple card stock. I added black and marigold colored card stock. I die cut the smallest rounded square in the Spellbinders Label 1 out of black card stock and then cut it in half. I adhered these pieces to a strip of vellum where I had stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. Once again my sentiment is from the highly versatile Mega Mixed Messages from Papertrey Ink. I added some gold brads and voila – Happy Anniversary.

30th Anniversary Card

Today’s card is my entry in Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: No Ordinary Paper. It took me almost all week to think of something that would work for this challenge. I needed to make an Anniversary Card and thought that I could combine the two.

The 30th wedding anniversary is the “Pearl Anniversary.” For my card I used pearl metallic paper and vellum. As you know, if you have been here before, I love paper roses. I have never made a vellum rose but I think that it turned out pretty.

Vellum Rose and Pearl Metallics

I began with the vellum rose. I punched my petals using the McGill Paper Blossom Punches. The base is cut using the Star Flower punch and then I built the flower using the Dogwood punches. I shaped the petals and assembled them using hot glue. The leaves were cut with the Birch Leaf Punch.

I stamped the background with Versamark and embossed with White Pearls Embossing Powder. I adhered the background to a piece of Metallic Quartz paper and then adhered my rose. I then mounted that using foam tape to a piece of Metallic Silver paper.

I stamped the “Happy” sentiment using VersaMark and Sterling Silver Embossing Powder. I used the QuicKutz Zoe Alphabet dies to cut out the “30.” I stacked three set of the numbers to create dimension. The “th” was stamped using the Rough Edges Alphabet stamp set using VersaMark and Sterling Silver Embossing Powder.

30th Anniversary-4

I created the “anniversary” banner by stamping half of the “Happy Anniversary” sentiment on a scrap of Metallic Quartz Card Stock. I then hand cut the banner shape, folded and adhered it to the card.

A photo doesn’t truly capture all the shimmer to this card. It does feel very “pearl-ish” in person.
