Three Bears Birthday Card

Yep, you guessed it! We have another party to attend this weekend. You all should be proud of me the party is today and I am not, I repeat, not making this card today. I was able to get it finished earlier in the week. I am making a very concerted effort to get my projects done ahead of time, this makes my life so much easier. Of course, I do still live in the real world and I am sure that I will be whipping something up last minute before too long. I am calling this card, theThree Bears Birthday Card.

I have been checking out the amazing coloring that people in our hobby are doing with Copics, colored pencils, and a combination of both. I am so inspired to get better and will be doing more coloring in the days to come. To start this card, I stamped the right-hand bear and then masked him and stamped the next, and then I repeated the process for the final bear. I used Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black. Then I went to coloring with my Copic markers. Once completed I added the little accents with my gel pen.

I rounded the corners of my central image and added coordinating mats and a few eyelets.  Then i mounted my bears with pop-dots onto the fun pattern paper and added a piece of grosgrain ribbon. I added the sentiment by cutting out the letters with an old QuicKutz alphabet called Oatmeal using bight green paper. I glued these to my card front and embellished with green glitter glue. Not to be outdone, my bears got a little glitter on their ears and muzzles.

Doughnut Card

A few weeks ago my daughter was invited to a doughnut-themed birthday party.  It was a first for a doughnut-themed anything for us but we went with it. I decided to create a personalized card with doughnuts. Now, if you have been here before you might realize that I have a very bad habit, and that is making cards the day-of an event. It is never my intention to be so late with these things, it just happens. This card was the same. Because I was so far behind the 8-ball I had to design something that I could create fast.

I did a quick search on the Silhouette Design Store and found a cute set of doughnuts. You can purchase them here. I had to take the sprinkles off the pink doughnut as they were too small when I cut these out. So, I cut out five tiny doughnuts and then colored them with my Copic markers. I added the sprinkles with a fine line Sharpie.

I really wanted an over-all palette that would allow the doughnuts to “pop.” so I create the white-on-white panel. Again, I headed to my handy Silhouette Cameo to create the name panel and cut it out of white cardstock.

To add a little shimmer, I game my name panel a little spritz of Perfect Pears in Pearl. I didn’t worry about spritzing the center of the “a’s” because they are so small that it isn’t really noticeable.

Yummy doughnuts!

I glue all my doughnut together and then glued them to the panel. This takes a little bit of care, just to be sure that they are near the center. Then I added pop-dots to my panel and voila! That was it. Custom theme coordinating birthday card. This card just makes me smile. I love that doughnuts are “in.” You could really use any food item that you wanted. We had a pizza-themed party too that might have worked for this layout.
